Advent Calendar 2023

Some things are inextricably linked to the Advent season. This includes the Advent wreath, which we used as inspiration for this year’s Advent calendar.

For the 15th time, we are releasing our Advent edition in 2023 and taking on the challenge and our commitment to create something new every year that we believe could excite you or at least bring you joy.

This time, we designed an Advent wreath out of cardboard. Various colored cardboard types were used, printed in different shades, and enhanced with hot foil, embossing, debossing, and lacquer effects. Several die-cutting techniques were employed. In addition to conventional die shapes, we used our laser cutter to create delicate shapes, numbers, and lettering from the material.

With a slight turn, the wreath is positioned and locked in place with the two side tabs, thus unfolding its three-dimensional effect.

The 24 little boxes for the individual days of December, filled with treats, are housed in the hexagonal box in the center and arranged with care. They are placed around the wreath in the openings at the base according to their numbers, forming four Advent candles of different sizes. On the Advent Sundays, in addition to the chocolate, various yellow cardboard flames are included in the small boxes, which can be placed in the center of the candle to symbolically light it.

The base of the hexagonal box in the center has a secondary use. It can be unfolded and used as a bowl, for example, for cookies.

We made sure to produce the Advent calendar in an ecologically and socially sustainable manner. The calendar is made entirely of cardboard, can be refilled, and is recyclable. It was assembled in collaboration with Integra Vorarlberg, an employment initiative for long-term unemployed individuals in the region, as well as Lebenshilfe.
