Rebranding Schwarzach Packaging GmbH
2023
Acquisition of Läser AG CH
Schwarzach Packaging has acquired the Swiss company Läser AG as part of a succession plan. Läser AG, a leading company in carton packaging and labels, will remain independent, with both companies benefiting from synergies. The acquisition secures the 100 jobs in Gontenschwil in the long term. The expansion of the product portfolio aims to strengthen market position and enhance delivery responsibility for clients.

Expansion of Photovoltaic System
The management of Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach is excited about the successful commissioning of the expanded photovoltaic (PV) system. Since 2012, the company has focused on renewable energy, particularly solar power from its own rooftop. With the recently completed fourth expansion phase, the capacity of the PV system has even doubled, reaching a total capacity of 1,313 kWP.

Groundbreaking for the Largest Expansion Building on 52,000 m² of Production Space
Groundbreaking for the largest expansion in the history of the company: the production and storage area grows from 35,500 to 52,000 m². Fully automated high-bay warehouse constructed in timber with state-of-the-art intralogistics and 10,400 pallet spaces.

Acquisition of the Neighboring Area for Business Use

Installation of Digital Prepress Technology
Computer to Plate (CTP): All standard digital data is transferred directly from the computer to the printing plate using the new software. CAD-Packaging: Computer-Aided Design with 3D animation technology ushers in a new era in folding box development.

1978 - 1988
Gradual Expansion of the Company and Construction of the First High-Bay Warehouse
The 1980s marked the transition from the industrial age to the information age. Significant investments were made in machinery and operational facilities. In 1985, the high-bay warehouse for 450 pallet spaces was completed. By 1988, the expansion of operations was finished, with a total usable area of nearly 10,000 m² and approximately 100 employees.
1968
Relocation from Dornbirn to Schwarzach: New Construction of Offsetdruckerei Schwarzach
The major investment for the new operational building in Schwarzach progressed rapidly. The built area was 1,940 m², with a usable area of 3,400 m². In August 1968, the Dornbirn printing company was moved to the newly constructed building in Schwarzach. The much larger premises had a very positive impact on the production process.

Transition from Letterpress to Offset Printing and Specialization in Fine Carton Packaging and Labels
1913
Founding of the Vorarlberger Book Printing Company in Dornbirn (now VBG Holding AG)
The founders of Vorarlberger Buchdruckerei-Gesellschaft m.b.H. (VBG), manufacturer Dr. Erwin Fussenegger, lawyer Dr. Anton Zumtobel from Dornbirn, and commercial school director Alfred Wehner from Lustenau, acquired the insolvent Hans Acherer printing company in Lustenau on November 23, 1913. After laying this foundation with initial capital of 25,000 crowns, efforts were successfully made to attract further members.
